How Yellow Bird Yoga got her name

When I was deciding whether or not to open a hot yoga studio, I asked my angels for a sign if this was the next step on my path. A close friend recommended I get real specific and suggested something random like a yellow bird. They are not common to see (especially during an Alaskan Winter).

Within a few hours of this idea my partner, Adam, and I traveled to Oregon for a celebration of life ceremony in honor of his Grandpa. As soon as we got into the BNB we were staying in with the family we saw a huge yellow bird poster. The next day at the funeral a yellow bird flew to be near Adam and I.

Every moment of every challenge, obstacle, fear and doubt a yellow bird flies into my awareness; Whether it's on the nature channel, when we are out for sushi, or the beautiful painting at my acupuncturists' office.

On February 16, 2023, Adam fell off a ladder at work and has been in and out of the hospital ever since. When Adam was back in the hospital for the second time, we got a beautiful bouquet and there was a yellow bird placed in the nest of flowers.

There was no way this studio was going to end up with any other name besides the sign my angels show me on a daily basis in many different forms. As a bonus a yellow bird symbolizes joy and a positive outlook on life. Happiness. Even with all the challenges that have surprised us with Adam's recovery after the accident, the yellow bird continues to show up to remind us of the joy and happiness we are creating with this healing space for our community.
